Best Paper Award in Industrial Engineering Research Conference 2010-06-08

InnoLabs Group consultant Prof Kai Yang got the Best Paper Award in Industrial Engineering Research Conference, this is a top honor for research in the area of industrial engineering.

Abstract

Response surface methodology (RSM) is a collection of statistical and operational research techniques for optimizing process and designs. Traditional RSM designs use fixed factor settings to fit appropriate mathematical model which is not very effective in terms of the number of required experiments and model precision. In this paper, we introduce the methodology of adaptive sequential experiment, which uses

previous experiments information for determining factor settings of new experiments, and shrinks the factor space to smaller a region toward the optimal point. The effectiveness of the proposed methodology is examined on a case study conducted on rat brain trauma.
